US banking crisis in 2023 and policy implications

Abstract
In just two months, since the beginning of March 2023, the United States has witnessed three of the four largest bank bankruptcies in American history, with incredible speed, those are banks: Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), Signature Bank and First Republic Bank (FRB). This regional banking crisis is caused by many factors. These include the rapid increase in federal interest rates, the high rate of uninsured deposits, and the regulatory restrictions and lax supervision of the US Federal Reserve (Fed). Based on the analysis of the context and problems of the US banking sector, the article offers some policy implications for Vietnam.
